Masjid Al-Momineen 4.1

Masjid Al-Momineen was established in 1989 in a modest rented residence, initially serving a core group of approximately 100 Afghan immigrants who had settled primarily in and around Clarkston. The creation of this mosque can be attributed to Divine Providence and the generous contributions of its founders. As time progressed, the community expanded to include Muslims from Pakistan and the Indian subcontinent, followed by refugees from war-torn regions such as Iraq, Kurdistan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Bosnia, and Kosovo. At that time, the greater Atlanta metropolitan area had fewer than seven mosques.

Over the years, the community continued to grow, incorporating individuals from a diverse array of countries, including Myanmar and Syria. This influx has contributed to making Clarkston home to one of the largest international Muslim communities in Atlanta. As the congregation outgrew its initial rental space, the mosque acquired over six acres of land in Clarkston to accommodate its expanding needs. The property now features three buildings; one serves as the primary prayer hall for men, another as a prayer hall for women and an educational facility for more than 125 students. Additionally, the third building is leased out to help mitigate some of the monthly expenses associated with operating the mosque.
